PENGGUNAAN X-RAY DIFFRACTOMETER DALAM MENYELIDIKI JENIS MINERAL MAGNETIK PADA TANAH SUBUR DAN KURANG SUBUR

Abstract

The investigation of magnetic mineral types of rubber and oil palm plantation land in the area Rimbo Bujang Tebo regency in Jambi never been done before using the measurements of isothermal saturation curve Remanent Magnetization (IRM). This IRM saturation curves can only identify the type of magnetic minerals in the form of magnetite and hematite. As for identifying other types of magnetic minerals can be used the method of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) as a method of nonmagnetic. This study aims to investigate the type of magnetic minerals contained in the soil fertile and less fertile plantations of rubber and palm area Bujang Rimbo Tebo regency in Jambi-use X-Ray Diffractometer.
The sample for this study were drawn at six points from three locations, namely locations lush rubber plantations as much as two samples, lush palm plantation sites as much as two samples of oil palm plantations and locations of the two samples is less fertile. The method used was method nonmagnetic X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). From the results of x-ray diffraction data obtained for each sample in the form of diffraction angle (2), the distance between the field (d) and relative intensities are then matched with a database of mineral International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) so as to identify the type of magnetic minerals contained in the soil samples.
Results of analysis using XRD showed that the magnetic minerals contained in a rubber plantation soil fertile area Bujang Rimbo Tebo regency in Jambi comes from iron oxide group. The dominant type of magnetic minerals are magnetite, hematite minerals as are found in a size that is not so dominant. Terkadung nonmagnetic minerals in soil samples lush rubber plantations are cronstedtite, hastingsite, grossular, 1-A kaolinite and quartz. This type of magnetic minerals were identified in soil samples is dominated by lush palm plantations hematite, because the only type of hematite were identified. While the non-magnetic minerals is cronstedtite, clinoclore, hastingsite, grossular, and calcite. Samples of oil palm estates less fertile land is dominated by the magnetic mineral magnetite, while also discovered magnetic minerals hematite and contained cronstedtite, hastingsite, calcite and quartz as the mineral nonmagnetic.
