The research was stimulated by the presence of several factors that cause unsuccessful physics learning activities in Jambi City Junior High School 17, including the learning activities are still centered on the teacher. How to teach like this is always given in every meeting. Besides the curiosity of students to teachers presented instructional material msih also low. As a result, students become less active in the learning activities and learning outcomes of students who obtained low. To overcome these problems made efforts to implement the type of active learning strategies inquiring Minds want to know.
This study aims to determine whether the type of active learning strategies inquiring minds want to know can increase the curiosity of students in the class VIIID Jambi City Junior High School 17. This research is a class act (classroom action research) carried out in three cycles. Each cycle through the stages of action planning, action execution, observation, evaluation, and reflection. The type of data in this study is qualitative data obtained from observations of student learning activities and implementation of learning by the teacher.

The results showed that an increase in activity and learning outcomes of students in learning physics on the concept of light and optical instruments in the classroom VIIID Jambi City Junior High School 17. The percentage of the average activity of students increased from 48.04% in cycle I to 70.03% in cycles II and became 84.19% in cycle III. Based on the results obtained in this study, it can be concluded that the application of active learning strategies inquiring type Minds want to know can increase the curiosity of students in the class VIIID Jambi City Junior High School 17 on the subject of light and optical instruments.
